What is Pepecoin?

Pepecoin (PEP) is a Layer 1 proof-of-work cryptocurrency launched in 2024, in the Litecoin and Dogecoin family of coins. It is not PEPE, the Ethereum-based ERC-20 memecoin launched in 2023. The official Pepecoin project lives at pepecoin.com (also pepecoin.org).

Our Mission

Founded in 2025, our mission is to cut through the noise and provide clear, accurate, and timely updates on Layer 1 network upgrades, market movements, developer spotlights, and community initiatives.

Whether you are a veteran miner, a new developer building on the network, or just curious about the underlying technology, our goal is to be your trusted resource for verifiable information.

Editorial Standards

Pepecoin News is a community-run aggregator. Our coverage falls into two categories:

Official news — announcements and updates from the Pepecoin core team. We summarize these from their Discord, X account, and the official site at pepecoin.com, and link back to the original source so readers can verify for themselves.

Community content — notable posts, videos, and discussions from the broader Pepecoin community, including the Pepecoin subreddit, YouTube creators, and other community channels. We credit the original creator and link to the source. Community content reflects the views of its creators, not the Pepecoin core team or Pepecoin News.

We try to publish quickly when news breaks but prioritize accuracy over speed. We do not publish our own price predictions, paid promotions, or unsourced rumors. Articles include the publication date, and where a claim comes from a specific source, we link to it directly.

Corrections

If we publish something inaccurate, we fix it and add a dated note at the bottom of the article describing what changed. For significant corrections, we also note it on our X account. To report an error, please use the contact form.

Pepecoin News is written and edited by Pepe LeCoin, a long-time Pepecoin community member and software developer. Pepe LeCoin has been holding PEP and following the project since its early days, and started Pepecoin News in 2025 to give the community a dedicated, no-noise source for Pepecoin coverage.
